Super Bowl Ad 2020

Cheetos Popcorn-Can’t Touch this

A spot I watched during the Superbowl was a Cheetos popcorn commercial. The brand Cheetos  came out with a Cheeto flavored popcorn. This ad played going right into halftime. It was the third commercial after the second quarter was over. This ad helped market this product because the brand Cheetos is very well known but they are marketing popcorn now which is different than their usual chip. This ad allows over 100 million people who watch the Superbowl to see the new cheetos popcorn and gets people excited and wanting to try it. People will talk about it and even go out and  buy it right at half time since there is a break. This will give Cheetos a big boost in sales with a brand new rendition on Cheetos because it differs from chips and is a risky move.   It is catchy and has dancing and singing which brings a lot of attention to the commercial and even features MC hammer. This pulls in a wide demographic of people and gets people to remember the uniqueness of the ad and buy the product.

  1. I thought this advertisement for Cheeto’s two new popcorn’s was definitely memorable in the fact that they used nostalgia as a marketing strategy. MC Hammer is widely known as a, “One Hit Wonder,” and millions of people haven’t seen or heard anything about him in decades. I think the surprise appearance hit a sweet spot for viewers as well as the humor. All throughout the commercial the main actor is constantly able to get out of doing certain things because of one good excuse: he has Cheeto dust all over his fingers because he can’t stop eating the popcorn. I think a mixture of these two things made for a very successful advertisement and will get older and younger audiences talking about their product.

  2. I thought this was a good ad to pick and agree it was a risky move with this new product. People who love cheetos will be excited because their favorite snack is now featured in a new form. The commercial has humor and the subtext is forget about problems you are having in life and have a cheetos break. Having MC Hammer in the ad is ethos, which is a advertising technique that features a known celebrity endorsing a product. When our favorite celebrities are endorsing a product, we are more enticed to buy.
